BDO Latvia legal assistant Ance Renāte Pundure has prepared an article on car rental compensation during a business trip.
Subsection 8.2.3 of MK Regulation No. 969 stipulates that the employee shall be reimbursed for the expenses of driving in public vehicles (including taxis) to and from the airport, railway station, bus station, ship pier (also from the place of residence and back), including passenger insurance mandatory payments. It is important to understand the concept of "shared vehicles".
If it is assumed that the concept includes rented cars and subsection 8.2.3 of the regulation is evaluated together with article 76 of the DL, it can be concluded that if the expenses for the autonomous vehicle were incurred while performing work duties, they are reimbursable.
